Willard Peak is a 9,763-foot summit on the crest of Utah’s Wasatch Range in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest, where Box Elder and Weber counties meet. It is the highest point in Weber County and the highest summit in the Northern Wasatch, rising dramatically above Willard Bay and draining toward the Great Salt Lake. Named for Willard Richards, it was climbed in 1877 by Samuel Escue Tillman and Rogers Birnie during the Hayden Survey and used as a triangulation station. The mountain has also been recorded by the Shoshoni name Sogo goi and remains notable for both its geographic prominence and commanding views.
