Powder Mountain
Nature
Powder Mountain in the Wasatch Range east of Eden, Utah, grew from sheep range into one of the largest ski resorts in the United States. Land assembled and improved by Frederick James Cobabe and later expanded by his son Alvin became the basis for the resort, which opened on February 19, 1972, with a single operating lift and modest amenities. It soon expanded with new lodges, lifts, and terrain, including additional lift-served acreage and snowcat access. With both public skiing and private homeowner facilities, it has evolved into a distinctive mountain community tied to art, real estate, and further development while remaining a prominent Utah ski destination.
