Whether a side entry door was part of the original Mission Point Lighthouse structure is unknown. Photographic evidence shows that the west wall underwent three structural changes: a 1905 photo shows a storm shelter entry, a 1960 postcard shows that the storm entry had been removed, and a 2012 photo shows that the entrance had been replaced with a six-paned window.
