Yakso Falls is a seventy-foot waterfall on the Little River in Oregon’s Cascade Range, east of Roseburg and about twenty-seven miles from Glide in the Umpqua National Forest. Its name comes from Chinook Jargon, in which yakso means “hair,” referring to the water’s resemblance to a woman’s long hair. A short trail of about 0.7 miles reaches the falls from Lake in the Forest Campground through selectively logged old-growth forest and is open year-round. The falls are also part of a small cluster of waterfalls in the Little River drainage, including Hemlock Falls, Middle Hemlock Falls, and Upper Hemlock Falls on Hemlock Creek.
