Campbell Falls is a waterfall on the South Fork of the Umpqua River in Oregon’s Umpqua National Forest, east of Canyonville. About 12 miles upstream from Tiller, it is both a scenic destination and a practical river landmark, serving as the main attraction of Boulder Creek Campground and the usual starting point for rafting trips on the South Umpqua River. The falls received their present name in 1949 to honor Robert G. Campbell, who had worked as an assistant ranger in the surrounding forest before military service and was killed in action in 1944 while helping his crew escape enemy fire.
