In July 1946, Yost Auto Company sold their business to the Edmonds Motor Company but remained involved with the site by buying the land to the south at the corner of 5th and Maple that had been occupied by Long Motors. They built a new modern gas station and leased it to the Edmonds Motor Company, owned by F.K. Rittenhouse, Lester Wilson, and Bernard Yost. The state-of-the-art Chevron service station was completed in 1947 and was described in the Tribune Review on 5/29/47 as one of the most modern and complete in the area, with new equipment worth $6,000, including car and truck hoists, ample space for off-the-street servicing of cars, and restrooms. This part of downtown was a growing hub for services, with the garage, service stations, the bus barn on the level above the gas station, and the lumber store across the street.
