Constructed in 1915 by Sam Cheshire, this building housed his fashionable men's clothing store for four years before he sold it to People's Trust and Savings Bank on January 21, 1919. In June 1936, the bank bought the alley and half of the wall of the Barker Building to the south, allowing it to widen the building by 12 feet. Further expansions to the south in the late 1950s and to the north in 1968 eventually eliminated the 114 address. After 75 years of business, People's Bank closed in 1994. Homeland Bank, Magna Bank, and Union Planter's Bank later occupied the location, and Regions Bank, which bought out Union Planter's Bank, opened there in 2006 and continued in business at the time of writing.
