Sawtooth Botanical Garden in Ketchum, Idaho, is a five-acre high-altitude public garden founded in 1994 and developed for mountain conditions. Its varied grounds include stream-side, ornamental, and xeriscape gardens, a research area, a main building, and a greenhouse for flowering perennials, herbs, and vines. A distinctive feature is the Garden of Infinite Compassion, an alpine garden created in August 2005 by Martin Mosko for a visit by the 14th Dalai Lama that September. During the visit, he blessed the new garden and a stream-powered Tibetan prayer wheel filled with more than one million written mantras, one of only two such wheels erected in the United States.
