Boulder Peak is a 10,981-foot summit in central Idaho’s Boulder Mountains within the Rocky Mountains, about 15 miles northwest of Ketchum in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. Managed as part of Sawtooth National Forest, it is the most visible peak in the range and stands out clearly from Highway 75. Although ranked Idaho’s 127th-highest peak, it is especially notable for its dramatic relief, rising about 4,400 feet above the Big Wood River in only four miles. Runoff from its slopes flows to the river through Boulder Creek. The mountain has an alpine subarctic climate with long, snowy winters and cool to warm summers.
