Swansea Wilderness is a protected area in southern Arizona in the central Buckskin Mountains, where the Bill Williams River cuts a large gorge and divides the land into distinct sections. Established in 1990 under the Arizona Desert Wilderness Act and managed by the Bureau of Land Management, it includes a notably varied desert landscape ranging from about 670 feet to 1,900 feet in elevation. North of the river, the wilderness extends onto Black Mesa west of the Rawhide Mountains and reaches into Mohave County. Its name comes from the nearby ghost town of Swansea, just south of the protected area.
