Hemlock Gorge Reservation is a 23-acre state park along the Charles River in Newton and Needham, Massachusetts, preserving a rugged riverbank landscape within a densely settled part of Greater Boston. Part of the original Metropolitan Park System planned in the 1890s by Charles Eliot, it takes its name from a rocky gorge once lined with hemlocks and formerly carrying a side branch of the river. Its notable features include Echo Bridge, which carries the Sudbury Aqueduct and became a National Historic Landmark in 1982, and a horseshoe-shaped dam near the site of an 18th-century mill. Trails link these natural, industrial, and waterworks features.
