The Tooth is a 5,606-foot andesite fin in Washington’s Cascade Range, on a ridge between Denny Mountain and Chair Peak in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness near Snoqualmie Pass. Known in earlier years as Denny Horn and Denny Tooth, it received its official name in 1918. Its sharp shape and relatively solid volcanic rock have made it one of the best-known climbing objectives in this part of the Cascades, with routes ranging from a class 4 scramble to technical climbs. The South Face, first climbed in 1928 by Lloyd Anderson and Herman Wunderling, is a classic 5.4 route, and the peak remains both popular and hazardous.
