Priscilla Dailey, a sunken wooden canal boat in Bridgeport Harbor on the Pequonnock River, is a rare survivor of northeastern harbor trade and an archaeological site on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1929 at Whitehall, New York, by William J. Ryan for Anthony O'Boyle as Elizabeth E. Newell, it was renamed in 1941 by Stewart J. Dailey. Though constructed in the 20th century, it retained the older 19th-century canal-boat form. From 1941 to 1972 it carried bulk cargo in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut harbors before sinking with two other barges in 1974, creating Connecticut’s only National Register-listed shipwreck group.
