Natchaug Trail is a 19.5-mile blue-blazed hiking route in northeastern Connecticut, created by the Connecticut Forest and Park Association between 1969 and 1973. Running from James L. Goodwin State Forest north to Natchaug State Forest, it follows Bigelow Brook, the Natchaug River, and Route 198 through state forests and Nathaniel Lyon Memorial Park, with connections to the Airline State Park Linear Trail and the CCC Trail. Its Nipmuc name means “land between the rivers.” The trail reflects both natural and human history, including Wabbaquasset hunting grounds, land donated by James L. Goodwin, conservation education, and surviving foundations, dams, and cisterns.
