Burley Hill in Union, Connecticut, rises 1,316 feet and is the highest point in Tolland County as well as eastern Connecticut. Though not especially tall, it is unusually prominent in the state’s landscape. It is among Connecticut’s highest named summits, ranks sixth statewide in topographic prominence at 669 feet, and is the state’s most isolated peak. Its nearest higher summit, Asnebumskit Hill in Massachusetts, stands 1,387 feet high and lies about 25.2 miles away, underscoring Burley Hill’s notably independent position on the surrounding terrain.
