Kenosha Light Station on Simmons Island in Wisconsin was built in 1866 to replace earlier lights and became the first navigational light seen by mariners entering Wisconsin from the Chicago area. Its 55-foot cream-brick tower and adjacent keeper’s house reflected both practical design and Greek Revival styling. The station formed part of a broader effort to develop Kenosha as a shipping port, though its position led to the addition of a pierhead beacon for safer harbor entry. Discontinued in 1906 as Kenosha declined to a minor port, it was later altered, restored, and returned to active service in 1996 as an automated aid to navigation.
