Kenosha Public Museum, a lakefront natural sciences and art museum in Kenosha, Wisconsin, was founded in 1933 and opened in 1936 in a former post office building that had been moved across the street and adapted for museum use. In 2001 it relocated to a new building whose design echoed the glaciers that shaped the region. Its major exhibits include the Wisconsin Story, which explores deep human and environmental history through mammoth remains, including the Schaefer and Hebior finds, and scenes of Native American life through the arrival of Europeans. Other galleries feature changing art and cultural exhibitions, and the museum is part of Kenosha’s accredited museum system.
