McClintock Peak is an 8,290-foot mountain in Montana's Glacier National Park, rising along the Continental Divide in the Lewis Range above the Lake of the Seven Winds, with Mount Morgan nearby to the south. Like many peaks in Glacier, it is composed of sedimentary rock deposited from the Precambrian through the Jurassic in ancient shallow seas. Its broader geologic setting took shape about 170 million years ago, when movement on the Lewis Overthrust fault thrust much older Precambrian rock over younger Cretaceous rock. The mountain has an alpine subarctic climate with long, snowy winters, cool to warm summers, year-round precipitation, and severe winter cold and wind chill.
