Big Frog Mountain
Nature
Big Frog Mountain is a 4,224-foot peak in the Blue Ridge Mountains of the southern Appalachians, rising mostly in southeastern Tennessee within the Big Frog Wilderness of the Cherokee National Forest, with its summit forming the highest point in Polk County and its southern slopes extending into Georgia. It stands on the divide between the Tennessee and Coosa river basins and has a long, relatively flat summit with rhododendron on its western end. Trails cross the mountain and connect to the surrounding wilderness. Its distinctive name is sometimes linked to a frog-like profile, and the mountain is especially notable for its commanding prominence in the regional landscape.
