Kennedy Space Center Launch Complex 39A on Merritt Island, Florida, has served as one of the nation’s most important launch pads across multiple eras of spaceflight. Built in the 1960s for the Saturn V and first used in 1967 for Apollo 4, it became the departure point for nearly all crewed Apollo-Saturn V missions, including the launches that carried astronauts toward the Moon. It later launched Skylab and, after major rebuilding, supported most Space Shuttle missions. Since NASA leased the site to SpaceX in 2014, 39A has been adapted for Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy, and Crew Dragon flights, continuing its long role in major American space operations.
