Lot No. 53
History
1
A small single-story brick house was built here between 1786 and 1791 by Jacob Hoffner, likely on the site of a wagon maker shop. Later it was enlarged by Captain William Dick, who carried on a butchering business until 1845. Confederate soldiers demanded food here in 1863. From 1920 until her death in 1970, it was the home of local historian Florence Jordan.
