The Gardens at the Las Vegas Springs Preserve is an 8-acre desert botanical garden in Las Vegas created to promote water conservation through water-efficient landscaping, plant displays, classes, demonstrations, and expert guidance. It grew from a smaller garden that opened in 1982 as Kiwanis Water Conservation Park on land donated by the Las Vegas Valley Water District. After a master plan in 1986 and renovations, that site reopened in 1990 as the Desert Demonstration Gardens. By the time of its 2007 move to the Springs Preserve, it held more than 1,200 mostly Southwestern desert plant species, including mature specimens transferred to the new site.
