The Church of St. Mary Aldermanbury was first mentioned in 1181, destroyed by the Great Fire of London in 1666, rebuilt by Christopher Wren, and destroyed by bombing in 1940. Its remaining fabric was removed to Westminster College in 1966 and restored as the Winston Churchill Memorial and Library.
