At the Battle of Moore's Mill on July 28, 1862, men from the USA 9th Missouri Cavalry, Merrills Horse, the 3rd Iowa Cavalry, the 3rd Battery Indiana Light Artillery, the Louisiana Red Rovers, the CSA Blackfoot Rangers, and the 1st NEMO Cavalry gave their lives, including those killed in action, those who died of wounds, and several believed to be buried in a mass grave.
