White Cap Mountain
Nature
White Cap Mountain, in Piscataquis County, Maine, rises within the Pleasant River watershed among nearby Hay, Big Spruce, and Little Spruce mountains. Its eastern slopes drain through B Inlet Brook and B Pond to Guernsey Brook and the East Branch of the Pleasant River, while its north, northwest, and south sides feed the West Branch through the West Branch Ponds and Greenwood Brook. These waters ultimately connect to the Piscataquis River, the Penobscot River, and Penobscot Bay. White Cap also holds a place on the Appalachian Trail, which follows the four-mile ridge to the east and crosses the mountain’s summit as it passes through Maine.
