Everett Bowman was born on July 12, 1899, in Hope, New Mexico, and died on October 25, 1971, in Wickenburg, Arizona. Known as the cowboy's cowboy, he was admired and revered by townsfolk. He was the father and organizer of the Turtle Association in 1936, which became the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association in 1937. He owned Heart Cross Ranch in Hillside, Arizona, acquired a private plane and license in 1939, took up golf in 1947, and hit a hole in one in 1952. A champion mule trainer, he served as Head Wrangler at Flying E Ranch in Wickenburg, Arizona, from 1960 to 1962.
