Hassayampa River Canyon Wilderness is a protected wilderness area in Arizona, northeast of Wickenburg, encompassing 11,840 acres under the administration of the Bureau of Land Management. Established in 1990, it preserves a significant stretch of canyon landscape associated with the Hassayampa River. Its name reflects the river itself and derives from the Yavapai word Hasyambo, meaning “the water disappears,” linking the area’s identity to a long-standing Indigenous understanding of the landscape.
