Rito Alto Peak is a 13,803-foot mountain in the Sangre de Cristo Range of south-central Colorado, about 11 miles west of Westcliffe in the Rio Grande and San Isabel national forests. One of the higher summits in this part of the range, it forms part of the rugged mountain landscape that rises steeply above the Wet Mountain Valley. Its location within two national forests places it in a protected alpine environment characteristic of the central Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
