Sheep Ridge Wilderness is a protected area in the Croatan National Forest of eastern North Carolina, designated in 1984 and encompassing 9,315 acres of broad wetland. Unlike more developed public lands, it has no trails or campsites, and moving through it is difficult. Its significance lies in that very lack of development, which preserves a large, undeveloped expanse of wetland within the national forest and reflects the character of a U.S. wilderness area.
