Santa Cruz Cemetery was first established as a burial ground for several Hispanic children who died in a 1914 epidemic and was also historically referred to as Driskell Farm Cemetery and Neale Farm Cemetery. When the children's families had no place to bury their dead, Freemason Eustolio M. Cruz asked local farmer Will P. Driskell to allow Mexican-Americans to be buried on a portion of his land. The children's graves were marked with wooden crosses that have not survived. In 1920, Driskell deeded the 2.1-acre grounds to the Santa Cruz Graveyard Association, now the Santa Cruz Cemetery Association.
