Tuscarora Club Bridge, a wooden covered bridge in Middletown in New York’s Catskills, began in 1870 as a 38-foot Queenpost truss toll bridge built by William Mead in Dunraven over the Platte Kill. After a new road and iron bridge made it obsolete, it was abandoned and then moved in 1935 to land owned by the Tuscarora Club. During the move it was shortened to 24 feet and rebuilt as a Kingpost truss, changes that made it ineligible for the National Register of Historic Places. Now carrying a foot trail over Mill Brook, it reflects adaptation and continued use rather than untouched preservation.
