At the height of logging operations, the town had a church, post office, library, hotel, skidsshacks, schools, and a roundhouse, in addition to the store that still remains. Trains were needed to move 3.5 billion board feet of logs to the Weed sawmill during logging operations. The town has a population of about 800 people, and the logging operations ended in the 1950’s.
