Fish Lake Hot Well is a geothermal spring in Nevada’s Fish Lake Valley near Dyer, set in an open basin with views of the White Mountains, Boundary Peak, and the Boundary Peak Wilderness. Discovered in the 1880s when ranchers drilling for oil struck hot water, it was later enclosed and adapted for soaking. Hot mineral water flows at more than 50 gallons per minute at about 105°F into a gravel-bottomed pool, then into additional ponds and primitive pools that cool to about 85°F. With simple amenities and nearby camping, it combines a developed bathing spot with a desert setting and has also drawn interest for geothermal energy.
