Boundary Peak in southwestern Nevada is the state’s highest natural point at 13,147 feet, standing in Esmeralda County at the northern end of the White Mountains near the California line that gave it its name. Although it exceeds 13,000 feet, it is often regarded as a sub-peak of nearby Montgomery Peak in California, which is higher and only about a mile away, leaving Boundary Peak with little prominence. Its distinction as Nevada’s high point is also narrow, as it rises just 82 feet above Wheeler Peak. Nonetheless, it remains Nevada’s official state high point and a longstanding destination for climbers.
