Montgomery Peak is a mountain in California’s White Mountains within Inyo National Forest and the White Mountains Wilderness, standing less than 1 mile from Nevada’s Boundary Peak across the state line. Although Boundary Peak is Nevada’s highest point, Montgomery Peak is actually taller. Because Boundary Peak rises only 253 feet above the ridge connecting the two, it is commonly regarded as a sub-peak of Montgomery. Their close relationship and frequent inclusion in a single climb give Montgomery Peak an unusual significance in the geography of the California-Nevada border region.
