Sun City, Arizona, officially opened on Jan. 1, 1960 as the world's first master-planned active-adult retirement community. Developed by the Del E. Webb Corporation, it was an instant success and quickly led to the creation of an entire industry catering to the needs of seniors. This building was one of five model homes built and opened in 1960. The property was purchased in 1989 by the Sun Cities Area Historical Society and is today home to the Del Webb Sun Cities Museum. Recognized by the National Park Services, 2015.
