John Fox, Jr., a famous Kentucky author, was born here in 1862 and spent his early home life at this site. He graduated from Harvard in 1883 and died in 1919. Focusing on life in the Appalachian area, he wrote 12 novels and 45 short stories, including The Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come, among the first books published in the U.S. to sell one million copies, and Trail of the Lonesome Pine.
