Albany, Louisiana, was established by the B.R.H. and E. Railroad in 1907-08 on part of a Spanish Headright granted to Nancy Setton in 1801. The town was crossed by the old north-south Turnpike Road from Springfield to Natchez, MS, and it was incorporated in 1953, with Grady Stewart as its first mayor.
