Men who worked in the woods and mills carved Forest County out of the wilderness and produced needed goods that helped propel the building of America. Some of the most successful lumbermen preserved sections of virgin timber, now part of the Allegheny National Forest and Cook Forest State Park, and used wise forest management practices.
