Hal and Fern Cooper Wildlife Management Area is a 16,080-acre conservation landscape in northwestern Oklahoma, northeast of Fort Supply and adjoining Fort Supply Wildlife Management Area. Created in 1992 after Fern Cooper donated 2,498.68 acres and the state bought the rest, it preserved the Coopers’ ranch as an intact place for wildlife and public enjoyment while maintaining local tax revenue. Where the Beaver River and Wolf Creek form the North Canadian River, the area includes open uplands and about 4,500 acres of river bottom. Its mixed prairie, sagebrush, thickets, and bottomland trees support diverse birds and mammals, and bald eagles have also been seen there.
