Construction of 120 North Howard was finished in September 1900, when Messrs. Meek and Robertson moved in and opened a haberdashery that prospered until Mr. Robertson retired in 1923. The store continued under the Meek name, managed by F. H. Eckert until 1926, when he bought the business and moved to the end of the block. From 1926 to 1948, the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company, popularly known as the A&P, occupied the building. It then remained a grocery store as The People's Market until Dr. Carl Lundahl opened a chiropractic clinic in 1956, serving Indianola patients for 17 years until 1972. After a brief vacancy, Hogan's Sporting Goods opened in 1974 but lasted only three years. After Hogan's closed, the building became home to De Vore's Guitar Center for 24 years. In 2000, the store was renamed Last Chance Guitars, and in 2003 it expanded its inventory and became Rusty's Music and Skate Center, which remains open today.
