Life in this small river town could be serene and filled with recreational pleasures. It could also become hectic and dangerous when spring flooding or winter ice build-up made River Avenue impassable. Today, with Kinzua Dam upriver, these extreme conditions are under better control. As in the past, fishing and canoeing are still popular activities on the river.
