"Greenbottom" (N.E.) was the home of General Albert G. Jenkins, a brilliant Confederate officer who was mortally wounded at Cloyd's Mountain in 1864. During a raid in Sept. 1862, Jenkins's 8th Virginia Cavalry was the first to carry the Confederate flag into the state of Ohio.
