The 221 foot Lenticular Truss bridge that spanned Little Pine Creek at this location from 1890 to 1984 was one of several uniquely configured truss bridges built in north central Pennsylvania in the late 19th century. Its distinctive patented design was defined by curved top and bottom chords that created a lens-like distribution of stresses. Erected in 1890 by the Berlin Iron Bridge Company of East Berlin, Connecticut, it is now preserved at Swatara State Park in Lebanon County.
