In 1926, Josephine Goss, the last remaining child of Ebenezer and Eliza (Buker) Staples, built this house as her home. Its architect was Joseph S. Stickney and its contractor was William W. Brooks, both from Saco, Maine. In 1942, the Goss estate went on the market for $7.100.00 and was bought by Montrose E. Hill, then later sold to Warren and Grace Harmon. The Harmons lived here, rented rooms in the house, and operated a real estate business from the home. After Mr. Harmon's death in 1974, the house and land were bequeathed to the Town of Old Orchard Beach, with his will specifying that it be used as the permanent residence of the Old Orchard Beach Historical Society, also known as the Harmon Museum.
