Oregon Ridge Park in Cockeysville, Maryland, is a 1,043-acre regional park that blends recreation with a landscape shaped by earlier industry. The land, once owned by John Merryman in the 1800s, contains abandoned goethite iron ore and marble quarries from the 1830s, traces of a former mining village, the surviving Goff Tenant House, and other ruins. A water-filled quarry once served as a swimming area and is now reserved for county programs. The park also preserves remnants of a 1960s downhill ski area. Today it features trails, picnic areas, a lodge, a nature center, family programs, and expanded acreage added in 1990 through the Merryman Tract.
