Maryland’s National Electronics Museum preserves the history of American defense electronics through artifacts and hands-on exhibits covering the telegraph, radio, radar, sonar, satellites, and other systems. It grew from a 1973 Westinghouse employee exhibition organized by Robert L. Dwight, expanded with help from Jack Sun, and became a nonprofit in 1980. Backed first by Westinghouse and later by Northrop Grumman, it expanded through several sites and developed galleries on communications, sensing, countermeasures, underwater technology, electro-optics, and space sensors. Notable holdings include the SCR-270 radar from Opana on December 7, 1941, while its library, radio station, and educational programs made it an active public resource.
