Cal Ripken, Jr. made his MLB debut for the Baltimore Orioles on August 10, 1981. On October 16, 1983, the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Philadelphia Phillies to win the World Series, and Cal recorded the final out. On September 6, 1995, Cal broke Lou Gehrig's record by playing in 2,131 consecutive games, then went on to set the record at 2,632. On April 15, 2000, Cal became the seventh player in MLB history with 3,000 hits and 400 home runs. On July 29, 2009, Cal was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame.
