Rotarun Ski Area
History
Rotarun Ski Area is a small community ski hill west of Hailey on the north-facing slopes of Art Richards Mountain in central Idaho. Operating since the 1950s, it has long provided the Wood River Valley with an affordable, local alternative to the much larger Sun Valley resort near Ketchum. Its modest scale is reflected in its lift history, progressing from a rope tow to a J-bar in 1964 and a Poma lift in 1998. Supported by volunteers and donations, Rotarun serves local skiers with evening and weekend operations and stands out as the only ski area within a three-hour drive to offer night skiing.
