The Salisbury branch of the Eastern Railroad connected the mills along the Powwow River to the main line, began operation in 1848, and saw its last train run in 1965. Its route now provides a peaceful multi-use pathway along the Powwow River, linking downtown Amesbury to Carriagetown Marketplace.
